I am not too familiar with the general business environment in Ticino, but I
know that the CIM Institute there has a strong R&D group
http://www.cimsi.cim.ch/. They work with many local companies on
academic/industrial partnerships. I have helped a Swiss "startup" company
located in Lugano: Aeris www.aeris.ch. They manufacture kits for airplanes
that you can build yourself and have worked closely with CIMSI. I would be
happy to connect you with the founders if you are interested.
