Hi,

I am adding this note, since we experienced very
little problems when we imported a Ford Focus as
'Uebersiedlungsgut' to Switzerland in 2001.

We had our mechanic do the smog check and some minor
modifications to the lighting prior to the
'Vorfuehrung' at the 'Verkehrsamt':

- the orange front and side indicator lights need to
light up together, not alternating as in the US
- if the headlights are on, the orange front
  indicators need to be off
- a small white light bulb 'Standlicht' was added
- the rear red indicator lights are tolerated in CH
- the direction of the head lights was adjusted
  somewhat

The modifications and smog check cost on the order of
400 CHF.

We have no experience yet with replacement parts and
do not regret having imported this car.

cheers,

Beat
