Chez Panisse
edit
Known as the best restaurant in the Bay.
However, the last time I went there I was rather disappointed.
Very small and crowded dining room, ants on the table, boring
menu.

Excellent Restuarant, french style, south of San Jose in New Almaden. I can particular recommend Sunday Brunch (which is more like Lunch).

Suppenküche
edit
601 Hayes Street
San Francisco, CA 94102
415-252-9289
One of the Bay Area's best German restaurants, Suppenkuche has been a Hayes Valley institution for years. Suppenkuche covers German cuisine with an emphasis on Bavarian style. The beer selection is worth the trip alone, but the soups, pork dishes and even a few vegetarian options make a fine, hearty meal.

Tyrolean Inn (Ben Lomond)
edit
Located in the Santa Cruz Mountains, this small German/Austrian/European restaurant features a fine selection of beers and food. It also offers cabins for those who don't want to drive home after all the beer. It is located on Hwy 9 in Ben Lomond, and is roughly 45 minutes away from downtown San Jose. Prices: we paid ca. $150 for 4 persons, including the beers.
