Hello all -

Just a quick note RE: pets (dogs and cats) and US-CH travel. There is no
quarantine in Switzerland for pets traveling to CH. You do need to have a
health certificate issued by a federally accredited veterinarian and the
physical exam has to happen within a certain period of time prior to
departure (it used to be 20 days or something - please check). They have to
have current vaccinations - esp. rabies shots and no history of exposure to
rabid animals.

There are some improved regulations followed by the airlines i.e. they will
not ship dogs in the pressurized cargo room during the summer months (June,
July, August and maybe Sept.- please check).

I used to travel with two large breed dogs back and forth all the times in
the early 90ies, and they always have done really well - it was well worth
the trouble for them to then run around in the Engadin swim in every creek,
lake, run across the meadows or play in the snow - do I sound homesick :). I
advise against sedation of the animal, they tend to do better without drugs.
I used to put the carriers up a few days prior to the trip so they could go
in and out and get used to where they eventually would be confined for 12
hours. Giving something they are familiar with in the carrier for the trip
(i.e. rag or matt) can help too.

If you want to know the "ins and outs" and details - drop me a line.
