Hey BALZ, who are you ? Show your full name if you have something to say.
And don't jam the swiss-list with junk e-mails.
The next step will be to help the au-pairs to find a job in the Bay Area...

With all respect, but I disagree with Louis: Everybody should be entitled to
ask any question. There are no stupid and no unnecessary questions!
And if it comes to me, the Swiss-List is a great medium to help Michel to find
a job in the Bay Area.
Michel: Keep going and don't get discouraged!

better for you if I don't tell people about you...

But if this does not stop, I'll start a discussion on the swiss-list.

It looks like we should update our initial email from majordomo to reflect some of the policies Laurent pointed out: - search Swiss-List.com and sfbay.yahoo.com first - have a concise subject (swiss stuff is a bad example) - generally, don't reply to the whole list but to the originator - post a summary of the answers to the swiss-list (and we will include it on the web) - no hate mail (see below, I felt like answering to Nicolas) Maybe we should then send it to the current subscribers too. cheers, Hansjürg >Date: Fri, 5 Mar 1999 10:35:40 -0800 >To: Nicolas Cuendet <Nicolas.Cuendet_at_nsc.com> >From: Hansjurg Jost <hjost_at_mail.arc.nasa.gov> >Subject: Re: swiss-list: End of spam! >Cc: balz_at_netscape.com >Bcc: >X-Attachments: > >Hi Nicolas, > >What about reading email to the bottom before complaining and sending a >message to EVERYONE. To: Laurent Vuilleumier <L_Vuilleumier_at_lbl.gov> MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Length: 3355 Status: RO I only subscribed to Swiss List recently. I already was thinking to unsubscribe because of all the SPAM. On the other hand, all those inquiries and tips and comments reminded me of my first years as a young post-doc in Calif. I then had nothing like that, no Swiss people I knew, and it was not always easy. It also was over 40 years ago...... More important: There seems to be a real need/desire to have such a medium for asking for info and providing it to fellow Swiss. Why not have a SEPARATE forum on the Swiss List where people can post messages, but they don't go to every subscriber, or maybe have no subscribers at all, just click on "Forum" if you want to get into it? One analogy would be the Yahoo financial portfolio manager where you can click on the stock symbol and then on "message forum" Regards, Hans Wiesendanger ---Laurent Vuilleumier <L_Vuilleumier_at_lbl.gov> wrote: > > Dear everybody, > > The purpose of the swiss-list is to "keep members informed of new > developments and hosts informal discussions as well as exchange of > ideas, contacts, etc." (http:swiss-list.com/swl_wha.html).
