Hi folks,
I have transferred my pension fund to my private account in Switzerland,
waiting for the exchange rate to get better before I transfer it to the
US. They deducted 7% tax (Quellensteuer), and sent me a form, with which
I can reclaim it. However, to do so, the form has to be signed by the
IRS.
They want the following: "The tax authority of the place of residence
herewith ceritifies to know about the above-mentioned sttlement in
cash".
What does this mean ? That they have to acknowledge that the amount was
transferred to my US account ? If yes, why would they need to know since
this money is NOT taxable ?
Anyone who can shed light on this issue ?
